My own personal experience in life demonstrates to me that we need a variety of different health and wellbeing practices structured into our lives to keep us in good shape, physically, mentally and emotionally. Here are some below which i would recommend:
Dru Yoga (Lots of Local Classes all over the West Midlands)
Dru Yoga - I've been practicing this type of Yoga since 2003, (and currently training to teach it myself) and Yoga in general since 1998, and Love it! It's perfect for beginners or those more experienced, and i personally find that it's gentle and soft flowing sequences are incredibly stress-busting, relaxing, uplifting and energising. Attending weekly makes a huge difference to my wellbeing, i'd say probably adding a good 20% to 30% to my state of health. And for those of you a bit put off by the sometimes Hippy, Mystical or overtly Spiritual perception of yoga, you'll be pleased to know that when this style of yoga was bought to Britain it originated in Bilston in the West Midlands. Can't get more down to earth than there! Lots of local classes! If you can't access a Dru Yoga class, then try another style of Yoga!
5 Rhythms Dance (Locally in Birmingham [also Bristol], also in most other Cities in the U.K)
5 Rhythms Dance with Dawn Morgan (Birmingham) - I've been dancing the Rhythms since 2000, and alongside Yoga has been one of the mainstays of my weekly practices. Whereas Yoga works through your body alleviating tension in a more structured way, 5 Rhythms dance allows Spontaneous movement of the body, which can be equally as effective. The class is held in such a way to help even the most self conscious person try to feel at home, and its fun. One of the often used phrases from the founder of 5 Rhythms, Gabrielle Roth is... 'the fastest way to still your mind is to move your body!' Says it all really!
