Body-Mind Connection
Question and Answer
Sessions
'In many indiginous societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask you one of four questions: When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?
Where we stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul. Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal salves.'                                          (Angeles Arrien)

, Acupuncture North London, Acupuncture Camden, Acupuncture Central London, Five Element Acupuncture LondonAs cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien beautifully articulates in the quote above, often when we lose our sense of wellness and direction in life we often become disconnected from very basic creative forces and activities, or 'natural intelligence' which keep us happy and vibrant.

All the Therapeutic models and principles I work with are based on natural creative intelligence, such as Yin & Yang, the 5 Elements, the Chakra Model and the principles of yoga and the body-mind connection.

I've observed that rediscovering or understanding some of these most natural principles of what gives us vitality can be a significant factor in regaining and maintaining wellbeing, helping to bring us back into alignment with what we need as an individual human to thrive. I've seen many patients and yoga students benefit immensely.

I've now started offering dedicated time where I'm available to answer questions or discuss on a one-one basis any of these principles, so not only can you be treated you can also be supported to learn and understand about health and wellbeing. Knowledge can be tremendously useful and inspiring helping us to answer questions that may arise in our life. I don't have all the answers but i've picked up a lot of useful knowledge over the years! (see background below)

I'm available whether you think your enquiry might take 5mins, 15mins, 30mins or an hour.  Basically if you are interested come along! You also don't have to be one of my patients or yoga students, this time is open to anyone.

Sessions are free form and focus on any particular area of interest you might have.
For those with a particular interest in the Body-mind connection and functions of their 'Mind' and 'ego' patterns I sometimes use a short sitting meditation to increase awareness of the cycles of your mind and internal dialogue / ego patterns. I may also practice yoga or demonstrate your electromagnetic field to you or show points on the body to illustrate the body-mind connection.

Body-mind connection background

Asides from practicing Acupuncture and teaching Yoga,
I also integrate the wisdom from many years of Dance and Movement practices, numerous styles of Yoga, Native American style ceremony, meditation techniques, Tai chi and Chi Kung, and various forms of energy and bodywork.

The reality is that we need a range of life affirming and nourishing activities in our life, (including what we choose for our occupations) as the body is constantly being influenced by what we en
gage with, which in turn effects our state of mind.

As well as exploring what's necessary to be integrated into daily life to keep us nourished, I've also experienced the potency of many different culture's methods and means of expanding their human potential. For example I've danced for 3 days without food (Native American style Sun Moon dances); Sat in silent meditation for 10 days (Vipassana meditation from India) Danced through the cycles of my life at a
10 day dance workshop (Movement Medicine 'Initiation' workshop); and 6 weeks in an Ayurvedic clinic having a detox for Body, Mind and Spirit (Panchakarma in India)

I've also observed the effects of how we engage with the collective aorund us by Living in Intentional Community (Findhorn Community in Scotland); and spent various periods of time living in and out of more natural environments, accruing knowledge and perspective on the urban condition the affect of electromagnetic energies and lack of negative ions.

The benefit comes from integrating the intelligence of these practices back into your daily life. I've accrued a lot of knowledge over time, especially when coupled with my 5 Elements Acupuncture and Yoga training, and additional first career managing an Organic Food Shop.

An area I have specialist interest in is also the nature and functions of our 'ego' or 'inner dialogue' which i've spent many years observing and defining.

In 2011 my interest culminated in me writing a 75 page e-book on the body-mind connection, primarily using the Chakra model as a body-mind 'map' but containing many other sections and systems to describe our essential nature.
